Interns Corner

Interns at Centre for Human Security Studies get an opportunity to interact with senior Bureaucrats, Academicians and IPS officers and discuss on various topics and issues related to Internal Security, External Affairs of India and International Relations. CHSS has provided internships to students from different colleges across India and out of India including USA, South Africa, Afghanistan and Srilanka.

Secretariat Meeting

A Secretariat Meeting was held by Ajay Mishra, IAS and Special Chief Secretary, Government of Telengana on environmental and energy policies of the government of Telengana. He spoke on the energy policy and energy security of the state, importance of implementation of Solar Energy/Power and regarding the Pollution Control Board’s action plans. He also spoke about different sources of energy, the concept of sustainable development and the different schemes introduced by the state such as: Rythu-Bandhu scheme and Haritha-Haram project.

Sri. K. Padmanabhaiah, IAS (Retd.) & former Union Home Secretary interacted with CHSS interns from OP Jindal Global University on the security situation in Kashmir and North-Eastern states. The Interns were informed by Sri. K. Padmanabhaiah about the various challenges in these areas and the Indian Govt. approach to dealing with these internal security challenges.

 

Mrs. Anjana Sinha, IPS & director of NISA interacted with CHSS interns from OP Jindal Global University on the challenges faced by women while serving in Police service as well as issues like child labour and human trafficking. The interns awareness was greatly increased by Mrs. Anjana Sinha’s knowledge and expertise on these issues.

B Prasad Rao, Ex DGP of AP held an interactive session with CHSS interns on in India and other National Security aspects. B Prasad Rao spoke at length about his experiences in his field and how it relates to the topics being researched by the CHSS interns. B Prasad Rao has also worked with the Anti-Corruption Bureau

MV Krishna Rao, IPS (Retd.) held an interactive session with the Interns of CHSS on various Security aspects of the country. MV Krishna Rao spoke on a number on issues regarding internal security of the country such as inter-faith relations, maritime security and scrutiny of Sino-Indian relationship

M.V. Krishna Rao is a distinguished police officer who has served in several eminent posts including Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, Director, AP Police Academy among others.

Ramachandra Murthy, Director at Sakshi TV held an interactive session with CHSS Interns on issues pertaining to visual media. The interns discussed several issue surrounding the recent issues with media and its function in the political scenario of the country. The team also discussed independence of the media in a democracy in which Mr. Murthy spoke about his experiences as a journalist in the time of emergency during the Indira Gandhi government. CHSS Interns visited the Sakshi TV studio for this event.

Mr. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, IPS interacted with CHSS interns from OP Jindal Global University on policing issues, and enactment of criminal law amendments. This interaction was held at the AP Police Commissioners Office in Vijayawada and CHSS interns got a greater understanding of the issues of policing and criminal law allowing them to better understand these important issues.

Interns of CHSS interacted with Dr. NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HRML) at Hyderabad Metro Bhavan, Begumpet. The interns were informed by Dr. NVS Reddy about the process of planning and constructing the Hyderabad Metro Rail system and the challenges involved in the construction of the Hyderabad Metro Rail.
